Naomi Weir

Deputy Director
Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE) (Confirmed)

As Deputy Director, Naomi leads all of of CaSE’s policy work including on R&D investment, Brexit, immigration, education & skills and science advice in policymaking. Naomi joined CaSE in 2013 from the policy team at University Alliance, and led CaSE as Acting Director throughout the 2015 Election and Spending Review period. Naomi studied Biological Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, after which she worked in financial services before moving into policy. Naomi is an alumnus of the U.S. State Department International Visiting Leadership Programme and an Innovate UK Women in Innovation Ambassador.

  • Fostering better collaborations between academic bodies and government
  • Creating opportunities for public policy professionals and academics to learn from each other
  • Discussing how policy and funding can impact the skills base in STEM subjects and generate a new wave of talent
  • Increasing UK expenditure on R&D to 2.4 per cent of GDP by 2027 to grow the economy, culture and society
  • Providing a basis on which policymakers can build a framework to measure and evaluate the return on investment from all R&D
